Updates about Egyptians’ Rights who live abroad

WEEK THREE UPDATE: Hello Friends -even more progress this week:

1. Our US working group on voter participation secured a meeting with Ambassador Anne Patterson, the State Departments Special Coordinator for Egypt’s Transition. We will discuss economic, social and political programs with her. I will report back after the meeting to update you on the issues discussed – including voting.

2. The Egyptian Ambassador to the U.S., H.E. Sameh Shoukry, agreed to meet with our working group as well. The Ambassador noted the following

i) The Egyptian Military Council and the Authorities will make the collective decision on the voting rights

ii) He has not received anything as of yet from the Egyptian American community regarding voting. Thus our working group will present Ambassador Shoukry with a letter and petition from Egyptian Americans requesting our right to vote. He noted that this would be very helpful and he would be happy to transmit it to the authorities in Egypt.
